I’ve mentioned “Shit My Dad Says” before in these pages somewhere. For those not aware, @shitmydadsays is a Twitter account setup by Justin Halpren in which he tweets the always amusing, frequently crass, and often profound musings of his 79-year old father, with whom he lives.

The Twitter account went viral soon after Justin began tweeting to it, and now remains one of the most followed accounts with over 1.3-million followers. And that with less than 120 tweets posted!

The Twitter account spawned both a book and the CBS produced sitcom that is soon to air in the States. What makes the sitcom so significant (besides the obvious fact that it is the first time a social media account has spawned a television programme!) is that it will star William Shatner as the eponymous Dad, Ed.

Those that remember Shatner as Denny Crane in “Boston Legal” will know that he is perfectly cast in SMDS. That and his surname of course. The sitcom will also star Nicole Sullivan (“Rita Rocks”) and Will Sasso (“MADtv”) amongst others.
