EDIT: Seems since we posted this article that the PicuSizer developers have realised that their app is worth a couple of bob, so they are now charging for it.

We’ve recently discovered PicuSizer, a very useful tool for on-the-fly image resizing. Especially useful if you regularly need to send photos via e-mail, or upload images to a website. Check it out, and let us know what you think.

PicuSizer is a small free application that allows for explorer context right clicking in order to resize images. Once installed, ensure the “Show setup on resize” option is selected, and that the “Overwrite originals” is deselected.

To resize an image using PicuSizer, (1) simply right click on the image, select “Resize” from the pop-out menu (2) confirm the settings [for general website use we recommend a maximum pixel width of 500 pixels, and a JPEG quality of 75%] and then click the “Apply & Close” button.

Batch resizing of multiple image files can also be easily done. (3) Simply select all the images needing resizing first, then right-click on them, select “Resize” from the pop-out menu, confirm the settings [for general website use we recommend and maximum pixel width of 500 pixels, and a JPEG quality of 75%] and then click the “Apply & Close” button.
