KINGS OF LEON NEW SA TOUR DATES CONFIRMED

Big Concerts today confirmed that the Kings of Leon tour to South Africa, which was postponed due to surgery on drummer Nathan Followill’s torn right labrum and bicep, has been officially moved to October 2011. The new tour dates, presented by Nokia and 5fm, are scheduled for Cape Town Stadium (on the 26th October 2011) and FNB Stadium (on the 29th October 2011).

Fans with tickets to the original March 2011 tour dates are advised to simply hold on to their tickets, which will be valid upon presentation at the venues for the October shows. In cases where the ticketholder is unable to attend the October dates (for whatever reason), a full refund is available upon exchanging the ticket at any Computicket outlet nationwide (this must be done before 31st March 2011).

Tickets for the two concerts now scheduled for October 2011 are available to purchase through Computicket and prices range from R215 – R590 (subject to availability).

A quiet tweet by Kings of Leon member Nathan Followill suggests that their scheduled March tour dates for Johannesburg and Cape Town (as well as dates in Australia) will be postponed:

Sorry to all the fans in Australia and South Africa. My bum wing needs more time to heal but we’ll be back later this year. Sorry again.

It is known that Nathan is recovering from a shoulder injury sustained whilst on vacation late last year. The drummer tore his right labrum while trying to reel in a catamaran sail.

Whilst there is no official word on either the bands’ web site or on their Facebook page, the tweet was made via Nathans’ verified Twitter account.

A further tweet from Jared Followill settles the discussion:

Well, I now have March off. Any ideas for fun? I could always fly down to Australia and party anyway. I need some sun.

Press Release sent out to Aussie Media from Frontier Touring, the KoL tour company there:

The Frontier Touring Company regret to advise that the Kings Of Leon tour has been postponed from March 2011 to November 2011 to allow drummer Nathan Followill to recover from surgery for a torn right labrum and bicep. Doctors have advised that at least three months will be required for Nathan to recover post surgery to ensure the injury doesn’t reoccur.

KOL ticket-holders should hold onto their tickets until further details are released. A new itinerary is currently being worked up for November and more news will be circulated to fans next week.

Both the Australian and South African tour dates have been affected.

Frontier Touring and the Kings Of Leon apologise to fans for any inconveniences caused by this news.
