Taken early in the morning at the Bush Willow Tented Camp in the Muldersdrift area. My daughter celebrated her 9th birthday there with a group of friends (10 of them!) for an overnight “camping” party. It was the wife and I, and 11 nine-year old girls. We arrived there on the Saturday afternoon.

By the early hours of Sunday morning when I heard the sound of the balloons’ burners being ignited to give it lift, I was secretly thinking “Please take me with you. Please!” And this from somebody who harbours a serious fear of exposed heights.

The shot has been colour and exposure corrected because, in my stupor, I somehow knocked the exposure settings way out of whack on the camera. The result though, is a pretty accurate representation of the sky that morning though. Clear blue beauty.
