South Africa’s public has then voted for their favourite doodle of the finalists. And the image is going to be up all day on google.co.za
Nikisha Lalloo, aged just 13 from Port Elizabeth, won the local competition in South Africa. Along with being presented on the Google South Africa local homepage on 11 June, Nikisha Lalloo’s doodle will participate in the global competition for a chance to appear on Google’s homepage internationally.
Here’s Nikisha’s motivation for the design:
I love football, especially the unusual actions, e.g. the bicycle kick, which, when performed successfully is absolute poetry in motion. The skills, dexterity and bravery involved is second to none.
The online global vote to select the global winner will run from 21 – 28 June 2010. We’ll make sure to remind you to go vote Nikisha’s drawing onto the Google home page!

I never VOTED! for this one…..how did it win?
It's a pretty solid drawing coming from a 13-year old though.
I also think there were a couple more Google-ish finalists, but hey what the heck – let's give credit & support to Nikisha. Representing the nation is no mean feat!
Well done Nikisha
