Happy Birthday Yankees!
A very happy 233rd Birthday to the United States of America!
We want to wish all of our American friends and visitors a great day – here’s a little something just for you:
Don’t you just heart American patriotism! Regardless of what goes on, they fly the flag proudly. I often wish us South Africans displayed a little more public patriotism. I reckon the SA flag would look amazing in body paint! Any volunteers?
Some useless US Independence Day trivia for you, courtesy of Wikipedia:
- One of the most enduring myths about Independence Day is that Congress signed the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776. The myth had become so firmly established that, decades after the event and nearing the end of their lives, even the elderly Thomas Jefferson and John Adams had come to believe that they and the other delegates had signed the Declaration on the fourth. Most delegates actually signed the Declaration on August 2, 1776.
- In a remarkable series of coincidences, both John Adams and Thomas Jefferson, two founding fathers of the United States and the only two men who signed the Declaration of Independence to become president, died on the same day: July 4, 1826, which was the United States’ 50th anniversary. President James Monroe died exactly five years later, on July 4, 1831.

Why thank you! You are right about our patriotism. Very proud. I think it’s the “U” in USA that makes all the difference.
Got to see bits of your country recently watching Team USA at the Confederations Cup, and think that you have a very beautiful country and amazing people there. Work on that “united” thing and you’ll be celebrating your 233rd birthday too! Well not you specifically, but your great-great-great-great grandchildren maybe

I did try the painting thing a couple of times. Loads of pleasure but cleaning the sheets after you had your chocolate filled fun, not so pleasurable.
